Dr. T. S. Bhatti is Professor in Centre for Energy studies. He did his PhD from IIT Delhi in 1985. He was a Post-doctoral fellow at University of Newcastle, Australia in 1987. He has visited U.K under TCTP in 1993 and Indonesia under ITDG program in 1998. He has guided 40 M. Tech Theses and 6 Ph.D Theses so far. He has published more than 150 papers in National and International Journals and Conferences. He has edited a book entitled, “Small Hydro Power Systems”. He has done several Sponsored and Consultancy projects in the area of Electric Energy Systems. He has prepared five technical reports for CSIR, DST and Univ. of Newcastle. He is the Secretary for Centre Research Committee (CRC) since 2003. He has developed a wind turbine for low wind speeds with accelerating nozzles to be used for irrigation and electric power generation, which was sponsored by DST. His current area of research includes, automatic generation control of power systems, transient stability analysis of multi-machine systems, load frequency and reactive power control of isolated hybrid power systems, control of small hydro power systems, air concentrating nozzles and drag type vertical axis wind energy conversion systems.

He is in-charge of Power System Lab-II and has setup the following facilities in the Lab:
• An 11 kV substation prototype model for various studies with real time control
• Single machine connected with radial long transmission line model
• Two machine inter-connected power system laboratory model with 400 – 1200 km variable long three phase transmission line model
• A 4.5 kW micro-hydro system (2 kW alternator and 2.5 kW induction generator) with pelton turbine
• Vertical axis multi-bladed drag type wind turbine with wind accelerating nozzles
