PG Diploma Programme

The Department of Energy Science and Engineering (DESE), IIT Delhi, started a Post Graduate Diploma in Solar Systems and Management in 2026. This is the first academic programme of IIT Delhi to be conducted at its Sonipat Campus. The two-semester programme is a fully sponsored residential programme supported by International Solar Alliance (ISA) and fully funded by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO). The students selected for this programme are nominated by ISA from its STAR-C programme member countries. The selected students reside in the hostel at IIT Delhi's Sonipat Campus for the duration of the programme.

The PG Diploma programme has been designed around the Train the Trainers (ToT) model, with a focus on developing skilled professionals who can contribute to capacity building and knowledge dissemination in the field of solar energy. The selected participants complete two semesters of academic and practical training at IIT Delhi, followed by a one-month international training programme at the Institut National de l'Énergie Solaire (INES), France. The training at INES provides the participants with hands-on exposure to advanced solar energy technologies, laboratory practices, and industry-relevant applications, thereby complementing their academic learning at IIT Delhi.
