Dr. Ramesh Narayanan has received his Master of Science in Physics from University of Calcutta (Kolkata) in 1998 and Post M.Sc.(Physics) from Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics (SINP), Kolkata, in 1999. His doctoral thesis was based on studies of high energy electrons in the SINP tokamak of Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics. He received his Ph.D. Degree from Jadavpur University in 2007. He had been associated to the Institute for Plasma Research, Ahmedabad, India and Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais, São José dos Campos, São Paulo, Brazil as a Post doctoral fellow from August 2007 to April 2010. The main thrust of his recent research activities has been on experimental tokamak plasma physics with an emphasis on studies of runaway electrons dynamics using x-ray detectors and magnetic and electrostatic probes. He also has research interests in time series analysis, including spectral and nonlinear analysis methods. He has several publications in Journals/Conferences/ Workshops at National/International level in experimental Plasma Physics.

He joined the Department of Energy Science and Engineering (formally known CES) as an Assistant Professor in April 2010. AT IIT Delhi he has started working on characterization of plasma sources in different geometries, with emphasis on ECR and RF sources.
